Grimmleighs is the creative brainchild of Rachel and Leigh Kade, two self-taught artists who have long searched for a creative collaborative effort. One fateful day, Leigh asked Rachel to crochet a Loch-Ness monster doll for him, and he painted a goofy face on it. Grimmleigh's Fiends (now just Grimmleighs) was born, and their lives haven't been the same since!
Grimmleighs made their official debut at the first Craft Lake City in 2009, and nearly sold out. Since then, Grimmleighs have been a fixture at the monthly Craft Sabbath Boutique, and can be found at Salt Lake Citizen at the main Public Library in downtown Salt Lake City.
Each and every Grimmleigh is a hand-crafted, hand painted original. Rachel crochets the body out of acrylic yarn, then sews a blank face panel on the head. Leigh then paints the face on, and the Grimmleigh comes to life! Since we have no idea what we are making in advance, each and every doll is a one-of-a-kind original.
